The Puzzle Personality Quiz

In 2024, The New York Times Games team launched the Puzzle Personality Quiz, based off of real research from our puzzle players.

I worked with illustrator Aaron Fernandez and engineer Bella Virgilio to create the editorial expression of the archetypes and mapping so that all elements could be mixed and matched by question.

The project has a permanent home within the New York Times homepage nav bar and is live here.

After completing a simple 10-question quiz, readers can generate their own unique tarot-inspired card to share with friends.

We asked Aaron to create custom, blackletter-inspired titling for each of the results.

We created six basic archetypes based off of the different types of players, but card elements and share images are personalized based off of every answer in the quiz.
